London film buffs and opera aficionados save the date and join us at Republic Gallery on the 21st of January from 19:00 -21:00 pm for the London winter screeening of Everyday Arias- a collection of opera short films. All of which are set in everyday surrounds, making the ordinary extraordinary. After a wonderful summer programme, we are delighted to reveal our winter collection which boasts an equally fantastic array of internationally acclaimed film makers and Opera makers.
Francesca Levi, creative director of Everyday Arias, says that “although the collaboration between opera and film is not new, we hope to reinvigorate the art form by incorporatingthe everyday with the extraordinary. This exciting juxtaposition of creative visions will hopefully prove stimulating for both the die-hard opera fan and new audiences. As the title suggests, it is a very approachable concept of the art form.”
“What was particularly thrilling for those involved in this project was the enormous response from such talented film makers, many with both international reputations and plaudits for their work. The subject matter and treatment are wonderfully diverse, and as such it is a real celebration of the art form across the continents. We are delighted to be screening these films in this unique London space and hope you will be able to join us.”
